Valentines & Descending

From the 10th of February for at least a week and probably longer, the Spunland Cottage on Atom Universe will be wearing its Valentines theme! We often forget to change it back, so unless some kind Spunling reminds us  it is likely to stay this way until St Patrick's day. Hopefully this Valentines finds you well and able to stay safe.

You may also be interested to hear that the composer of the spuntastic Spunland music has a new album out under the moniker Ben Ledi - these lovely electronic sounds can be found on bandcamp now...

Happy Easter!

Spunnish Easter greetings to you! This one brings a fresh crop of spun in the form of the Egg Legs bundle - 19 full-body-suits (variations on 5 base designs) with customizable colours! Strut your easter stuff in spun-out style!

Spunland Cottage update 3 also sees the light of day - its been a long time coming but it's finally here! This new update brings Uncle Spun to welcome newcomers and provide useful hints and info. Then we have the Robo Machine where you can swap Uncle Spun's hat and moustache out for other Robo accoutrements and thereby grant the little spunner new behaviours. The room containing the Robo Machine (the gallery) has seen some substantial renovations too and a few more pictures have been added - see if you can spot yourself in any of them!

The Music & Sonic Spunner's behaviour have also been updated. Dubwegians recreated the spun loops to minimise repetition and maximise spun pleasure! Sonic Spunner will no longer switch them off, in fact after you have activated him he will ignore you completely, we're planning to address this in the next update...

There have also been a bunch of small fixes - big spun thanks to people for pointing them out (looking at you JamCar0ne - and everyone else who helped - we really should commit names to a list). There are a couple of known bugs in this new update - if you spot any please do drop by the Spunland Discord to let us know...
Have an eggcelent spuntastic easter  y'all!

Tuesday, 12 February 2019

The Spunluv Bundle is out now, just in time for Valentines. It features more than 20 items - many of them animated, from pulsing, chest bursting hearts, beating headphones,  the spun shower, return of the spuntacles (now with animating spinning spun), t-shirts, hearts to make whole with your special friend and much, much more!

The Spunland Cottage is now in its Valentines theme and should remain so until Sunday the 17th.

Spunland Cottage update 3 is coming along slowly but surely - its probably still a few weeks away, but when it lands it'll bring little Robo Spunner back to the world!

Season Greetings from the Spunland Cottage!

Seasons greetings to one and all! I was about to draft a spunmas tweet and fb post when it occurred to me that there was more to say than could adequately be fit in such, so here we are...

After an absence of more than 3 years (longer than it had existed for!) we were over the moon to have Spunland reappear this year, albeit in the limited form of the Spunland Cottage (private space) on Atom Universe, just in time for Spunoween!

The Cottage is not exactly the same as its PlayStation Home incarnation, there are a few things missing and more than a few added - as of last week the second update since launch went live introducing a new Spun Clock and various other improvements.

Indeed that's really what inspired the resurrection of this blog - observations by the ever astute Ren Echo drew to our attention the fact that we have no record of all the many mutations that Spunland went through on PSH (and there were many!) so we plan to let you know what's been done, and what's on the way right here. Before getting on with that though I should point out that the Cottage is available as part of the Spunland Bundle on Atom Universe - with it you also get a selection of spun head gear...

Several walk-through videos have been made by some lovely people and uploaded to YouTube, but I won't link to these simply because spoilers (there are a few secrets to discover) - instead here is the trailer we made for the Cottage:

Critical to the improvements on the Cottage has been the spunderful community on our Discord server which you can join here. Special mention must be made to JamCar0ne for providing such concise feedback - not all of the issues which he discovered have yet been fixed, but they will be!

As mentioned above the latest update introduced the Spun Clock and also some HUD elements so that you can better track your progress through the spun cycle. Once you've activated all of the trees a harvest will start. Fruit appears on the clock to tell you how long the harvest will last. With every piece of fruit you collect the Spun icon will fill a little, fill it all and rabbits will start to spawn at the end of the harvest for as long as will now be indicated by the rabbit on the clock. Makes sense? Well as much as anything spun does I'm sure!

The update also included some optimizations so that it all runs significantly better on the PS4, a side effect of which sadly is that the Spun Lake has evaporated for now (there's a story there for sure - thx  Luuk Hoekstra!) - it will hopefully return at some future point ideally along with further optimizations.

In addition to the Cottage update the Spunmas theme arrived last week (it will last until the 31st December) and also a Spunmas Bundle for sale including the following items:

Plans for future updates include the addition of a little robo Uncle Spun to act as a guide and hint giver, a button for setting the music on everywhere, additional features for the spun themes (including new musical elements) and as mentioned above further optimizations and bug fixes. Perhaps we'll do some twitch dev streams in the new year too.  If you have any features you'd like to see drop by the discord or post a comment here.

It's spuntastic to be be back, and we're looking forwards to 2019 being a proper Spun year. Huge thanks to our ever friendly community, especially for your patience, we had no right to believe that you'd still be interested in the Spun after all this time! Finally big thanks to Atom Universe for giving us a new home!  Have a very merry Spunmas everyone, see you in the new year!

The Final Kings of Spun (not the Kings of Final Spun)

585 days after GigiZen became the 1st Spun King in the EU, JamCar0ne became the 74th and final King of Spun in North America. On that day, or rather at 2 minutes after the start of the following day (according to Pacific Standard Time - the reigning time convention on the West Coast of the  Americas), which happened to be the first day of April, Spunland vanished.

As did a multitude of other worlds.

None could say for sure why such a thing had come to pass, but all who cared to notice saw the upheaval that it caused. Some would claim it an apocalypse of sorts, but a thing so vast and wide,  a weave of impossible friendships and glorious shared imaginings, like some raging tropical river - cannot be suddenly stopped. At worst its dammed. The strongest currents will always find a way around the rocks, and a thousand streams be born where previously there was but one, and may yet again rejoin, or spread in countless ways. But still, on that 1st of April, Spunland vanished.

The Killswitch started counting down the final days on January the 1st 2015. Ninety days remained until the looming Great Obstruction. To almost all intents and purposes Spunland EU was deceased before that dark day, or would have been, were it not for the valiant Spunlings from across the Great Atlantic. dxkills16, GreyNeo and JamCar0ne would in traversing the Spun trans-atlantic pipeline become NeoDx_1, VeiledNeo and JamCarToo to compete in each Spun contest, or merely play their part in keeping it alive. The final EU crown was taken by sam_reynolds01, truly the first Knight of Spun, indeed the most convincing contender for the very first crown of Spun. His destiny took him elsewhere for a stretch but spuntastically he returned in time to claim his own. Imhokh also was there to see the final EU contest, thus 2 of the only 3 people to ever bear the 4th July Crown, were there to share the end day’s spun.

On that final day in Spunland NA, the many tribes of Home came out to play, or just to watch and share that most poignant of times. Hammies, Homelings and every stripe between gathered in groups to chat or chased the crown in earnest. Many previous Kings of Spun were spotted among the throng, proudly wearing their crowns or glitching with them in the contest. After thirty frantic minutes JamCar0ne was crowned the final King of Spun.

Had sam_reynolds01 not won the terminal EU contest, the overall Majesty of Spun would have undoubtedly been dxkills16. Majesty dxkills16, the ultimate happy spunling and like sam before her a true Champion of Spun; many were the times she could have won but instead let another own the glory of the moment. Spunland was proud to have such noble Monarchs. Sam’s EU win brought his total Crowns to 20 (counting both sides of the Great Atlantic) - the very same as dx and so we celebrate them both as our joint Kings of Kings of Spun. All hail.

And so 770 days after the first spunling spawned in Spunland EU, Spunland vanished. We celebrate our final Kings of Spun, but not the Kings of final Spun, for that which vanishes may just as soon return. The spun no longer flows down the pipes that bore the fun, but gathers here and there in pools and burbles. For all who came to see what fun they could make, Spunland thanks you, and bids you mark: the Spun is with you always. #SpunForever.

The Unspun Tyranny of Time

And so it came to pass that Spunland entered its final days. The ever diligent reporters of End Times News noted the inexorable progress of the Killswitch countdown; the insatiable appetite of the Unspun Worms, the gradual draining of colour from the land of Spun, the shrinking of the hills and the lethargy of the trees. These were melancholic times, all the moreso as the final coronations would all fall on Spunoween. Was this some strange side effect of the calendrical calculus, that for two whole months in a row Spunoween would fall on a Tuesday, meaning the final Majesties of Spun would all be crowned in a land approaching true darkness, or was it some arch intention of the Architect of Spun?

It has obvious spunprints all over it, cried one enlivened reveller in The Spunner's Arms, I have seen its sort before - those that arrive after the coronation starts will find themselves in Spunland, those before in Spuno'ween - at least on that side of the Great Atlantic it will! Why, what an incredible fact! echoed another equally merry drinker, before the ever-wise landlord poured cold spun ale on their conjectures. If you forget the counting of the clocks that is! On the 8th of March the clocks sprung forwards ha! And I've heard tell Spunland mansions is not as empty as seems - some have seen lights on in the dead of night, and that Flusho in the grounds looks more like a steed than a grazer to me. Last orders gentlmen!

To the crown contenders it mattered not a jot whether it was by coincidence of contrivance, still they arrived to lay claim to the crown, some in Secret Spunland where the hills remained proud and tall, others in the inky blackness of Spunoween where the rabbits were all but invisible. But the wistful nature of the contest was plain to see. For long stretches of time the Crown would float unclaimed, as though too painful too bear. Where once angry words would fire between contenders at the contest's conclusion now apologies did own the air. The Spun family, once divided by competition were now united in melancholy. Who would dare take the crown when the number of heads left to carry it could be counted on one fully fingered hand? But they need not have worried, for it was their love and devotion which stole the bitterness from those sad times.

For some Spun reason the penultimate coronations were to take place at a slightly altered time, why would any risk such confusion at so poignant a date? Tuesday the 24th of March, 8 - 8.30pm GMT Spunland EU, 7.30 - 8pm EDT / 4.30 - 5pm PDT Spunland NA.

Of Imps and End days

In the time of the Kill Switch, in the end days of Spun, when the Unspun Worms roamed abroad and Spunland Mansions lay empty, with all it's custodians gone, it was left only to spunlings to catalog all that was right or wrong. No one officially noticed events of great import; when dxkills16 became Majesty of Spun on both sides of the Great Atlantic for the third time, where were the heralds to announce her achievement and the choirs to sing her praises? There were none even to question the scurrilous rumors and treasonous talk, that perhaps she was actually the Queen of all things Spun, (come back to save us all?) a conjecture based not only on her spuntastic achievements, but on the generosity of her wisdom and the sharpness of her eye, for it was dxkills16 who noticed that she was spurned by the Spun Imp during the coronations. Why would this be?

Perhaps an answer could be found in the pages of End Time News, a noteworthy journal which in these trying times rose to the challenge of covering the impending apocalypse. Their intrepid journalists were the only ones to record the gradual dissipation of Spun, and even managed to interview a Constructo Spunner, a most remarkable feat given the ghostly state of Spunland Mansions. Some would dispute that a lowly Constructo could shed much light on these terminal events, but none could deny the spun potency of his crudely uttered prophecy: 'One day the Spun Queen will return and the way to Spunland will open again'.

The very existence of ETN ensured that those with an intimate knowledge of Spun, or the unspun desire to claim such, had a worthy transmitter for their erudition, and so it was that an odd letter was received for publication:

"To whom it may concern,

When we was working for less than peanuts and harder than hercules, mistakes were made, and things ignored that otherwise should have been dealt with. Them that always know best insisted that the we press ahead with the delicate spun engineering to manifest the Spun Imp, even though there was barely the time to complete our maintenance work, nevermind introduce anything new. Not that the Imp really was new anyway - he was there back at the beginning of Spunland, but no many ever saw him. Anyway, the maths were bad and untested - as you can see if you pay close attention. The Imp gets summoned when you reach 2500 spun points, as soon as it's there bobbing on your head it'll attack the hopper if you get close enough (for long enough), and you'll get some points for having it complete its purpose. If you avoid the hopper and score another 2500 points the Imp will morph into a more powerful Imp and grant you even more points for achieving a hopper kill. Beware the hopper for another 2500 points and you'll find yourself with the most powerful Imp.

Now here's the rub. If for any reason you bank your score, (and so your current score is reduced to nothing) this information is not passed from the Bank of Spun to the Imp's logic, which means the tracking of the points aft goes agley and you can find yourself missing an Imp for quite some time. Normally this wouldn't really matter, but I feel its only right to let folks competing in the Coronations know that this is the case. If you are taking the quest for the Spun Crown seriously you should save your spun points and leave Spunland altogether shortly before the coronation begins, so that when you come back and  join the contest the counting of the score towards your Spun Imp will work correctly. I did try saying at the time that we shouldn't be tinkering with the engineering under the circumstances, but nobody listened.  That's what happens when you don't have a Union.

Anonymous"

Despite the depletion of Spun and the halfway mark of doom having been reached, spunlings kept coming back to compete for the Spun Crown every Tuesday (apparently from 8 - 8.30 pm GMT in Spunland EU and 4 - 4.30pm PST / 7 - 7.30pm EST in Spunland NA). Indeed, there were even rumors that unscheduled coronations had taken place... but who knew how, why or when?

The Final Spun Update?

At the stroke of midnight Greenwich Mean Time on the 31st of December, in the year 2014 a low rumble (perceptible only to spun bunnies) sounded from out the Great Spun Pipe at the end of Spunland. If one could only have plunged down the pipe, dodging the Spun Hopper on its wicked way up and followed the groaning to its source - to the great engine room of Spun, where meet the pipes of Spunland, Spunmas and Spun'oween, one would have found a situation most... unspun.

The Clock of Spun Seasons may have chimed the turning of the year, and the Shift Siren blared, but there were no Constructos there. Following a notice of eviction the engineers had all been sacked. None there were to set the dial from Spunmas to Spunland, no one to turn the mighty valve and let the new Spun flow. And so with an ominous shudder the Clock of Spun Seasons stopped and the groaning started as the mighty valve began to turn slowly, all by itself. The dial flicked to Spunland and for the first time ever the Spun Pressure Gauge dropped. With a click and a pop a hatch atop the Great Spun Pipe sprung open and up thrust a new gauge like some unspun jack-in-the-box. This is what it looked like:

Now, if upon witnessing this most unspun occasion one had climbed the ladders, crossed the gantries and wound one's way back up through the great halls of engineering and into the bowels of Spunland Mansions, quiet now and empty, then traced ones route through the echoing halls until one came to Uncle Spun's study wherein all was as he left it, if one had known where to look among his papers a letter dated 20th August 2013 could there be found which may well pertain to such events...

Dear Uncle Spun,

We are happy to inform you that the Great Spun Pipeline is now complete, and you may activate it whenever suits you and yours, however we must warn you that due to the absence of our Queen we must take measures to protect the Spun, projecting it as we are, into an environment of questionable sovereignty. Should the Spun Seasons fail to be observed for any reason whatsoever the Kill Switch will be engaged, whereupon the daily flow of Spun will drop incrementally until it is no more. We need not remind you that aside from many other adverse effects, this will cause the Unspun Worms to wake, so see to it that such a thing never comes to pass. Let flow the Spun!

yours spuntastically,

The Architect

Coronations will continue every Tuesday until the end of the world (which so happens to be a Tuesday). Spunland EU; 8 - 8.30pm GMT, Spunland NA; 4 - 4.30pm PST, 7 - 7.30pm EST

May the Spun be always with you!

Kings of Spunmas

With a sudden blast of snow Spunmas swept in early. The Spunling Ghosts of Spun'oween were banished suddenly as the inky blackness of the spun sky turned a warm red and the land drew on its winter coat of white. One whole month early the season changed. Was it the tumultuous events of autumn which wrought this premature change, or simply some unspun bug in the spinning of the spun?

With winter came the dulling of memory and the slowing of the scribes of Spun. Sleighbells soothed the weary souls like the Spun Doctor's prescription for badly aching teeth, it is time to forget whispered the land of Spun, time to make merry in the face of the long winter night ahead.

The 54th Kings of Spun were crowned in just such circumstances. In a quiet Spunland EU it seemed as though olympiacos4ever would claim the first spun'mas crown, but the changing of the seasons had summoned the veterans of Spun and for simple curiosity of Crowns new, sam_reynolds01 took the title for his own. Across the Great Atlantic the mighty abhraham_us took his due, despite a busy Spunland and even sam_reynoldsUS too.

The 55th EU Coronation was as quiet as it's predecessor. VeiledNeo made her debut in the snow and almost accidentally won, instead xCandyBabex found her head adorned with the Crown at the anointing hour and so became the 55th EU King of Spun - perhaps unknowingly? Spunland NA was thronged with fine contenders and many were the heads to wear the crown, but dxkills16 won the day with an impressive 40,842 Spun Points.

The unexpected season and all the clamoring over the future ensured that few noticed the final pipeline work drawing to completion. The Secret Spunland Crown would spawn at last and other small changes creep into Spunland, or at least would, once Spunmas passed.

And so came to pass the 56th EU coronation. Quiet again and dominated by JohnPlayer67, who for a time must have thought that he would win, but sam_reynolds01 was there to claim the very latest of the crowns. And then again some hours later he re-appeared on the other side of the mighty pond, identical in wearing his lately won Uncle Spun Head. The Spunland which greeted Sam was packed with keen contenders, so much so that this was not the only instance in creation.

Fearsome was the competition as old and new locked horns over the highest Spun prize. Darth-Matt92 was  the surest of them all; gliding, glitching on his skateboard across the snow, he surely held the crown the longest. ReccaWolf put on a proud display and dxkills16 in her Spun'mas tree finery lead spinning Uncle Spun in the dizziest of dances, but sam_reynoldsUS it was who once more claimed the crown, indeed the Secret Crown for the second time that very spun eve. Simultaneously in another Spunland lilmonstersmiler became the 56th NA Majesty of Spun.

And so once more the snow drifts down. Spunmas is set for two whole months, who knows what the New Year may bring? As always the Coronations would continue on a Tuesday...

Spunland EU 9 - 9.30pm GMT, Spunland NA: 4 -4.30pm EST, 6 - 6.30pm CST and 7- 7.30pm EST.

Stay warm & Spun

Majesties of Spuno'ween

How creepy and unspun to stand ashivering in the inky blackness without a single soul in Spunland EU as the contest started... Was it the seasonal changing of the clocks, or simply the darkness of the times. Who knows. Then under008 spawned but paid no heed. madmunkid could wait no longer and seized the crown. He breathed a long sigh of relief as others began to pop in one by one, and more-so when hotbunny4life took the crown for her own.  When the first harvest passed she took the crown again and held it for the whole spun cycle.

The second harvest saw madmunkid as Harvest King until hotbunny4life made her claim. sam_reynolds01 more fitting than ever as a Spunling Ghost reminded all of his prescence as he took the crown for a brief jaunt before dropping it with the onset of the next Spun Storm. hotbunny4life swept it back up.

remember06 took the crown of the final harvest, hotbunny4life snatched it back then began a fierce tussle as Benawat grabbed it and hotbunny4life took it back but then Benawat reclaimed! sam_reynolds01, by his own admission stole the crown from Benawat whilst trying to plant a seed, then dropped it to see hotbunny4life make good her moment and be crowned EU Majesty of Spuno'ween!

Spunland NA was quite a different matter. UncleSpun spawned to find neoflags fluttering in the spuno'ween darkness and the contest began with mighty dxkills16, Happy Spunling mascot of neotopia (some say) in possession of the crown as a Spun Storm drew to a close. UncleSpun could not let the crown lay unclaimed and so became first Harvest King of the contest. goddessbunny42 took the regal prize from him and retained it until the end of the Spun Cycle.

The second full cycle saw many heads wear the crown. Serenity777Angel was the first, followed by JamCarOne. Then dxkills16 for the simple spun fun of it took the crown for a time then dropped it. UncleSpun could not resist and grabbed the spurned crown, to lose it for the second time to goddessbunny42. Ren_Echo, master wordsmith of Spun seized it next, with dxkills16 shortly after reminding him who was boss, then lilmonstersmiler made her first play of the match.

The final harvest started and lilmonstersmiler took the fresh spawned crown and held it, to become NA Majesty of Spuno'ween with 23,852 Spun Points!

The 54th Coronation would take place on the 4th of November - when no one knew what to expect of Spunland - would it be Spuno'ween, Spunmas or just plain Spunland? Either way the time was set for 9pm GMT in the EU and 4pm PST/7pm EST in North America!

52nd Kings of Spun

The tumultuous events which took place during the period of The Great Denial clearly took their toll on the cataloging of The Kings of Spun, indeed it seems as though both the 52nd and 53rd coronations were recorded together and there are more than a few hints that perhaps the scribe actually took part in the contest...

Spunland EU, 52nd Coronation. RisingDeath-85- began the contest that he would go on to win. ahmad0321 may have been the first Harvest King, and although madmunkid may have seized the crown next, RisingDeath-85- soon took it back again. Then sam_reynolds01 joined the contest and ran with it until the first storm started whence he dropped the  crown. Marilua_99 was next, followed by MiiSs-Brunette, but RisingDeath-85-regained possession by the cycle's end.

ahmad0321 claimed the Harvest King title again on the second harvest, but the cycle was dominated by the struggle between RisingDeath-85- and Imhokh, with RisingDeath-85- coming out on top, Not to be outdone RisingDeath-85- went straight on to be first with the Crown following the harvest, then Imhokh briefly staked his claim followed by sam_reynolds01, with RisingDeath-85- once again ending the cycle in possession.

The final cycle saw Bicaer take the crown, then madmunkid. MiiSs-Brunette made one last attempt to win, but RisingDeath-85- snatched it away and as the clock struck was crowned 52nd EU King of Spun on 31,225 points.

UncleSpun began the 52nd coronation contest in Spunland NA, ReccaWolf made the first of many good plays to take it second, and even managed to reclaim the crown from sam_reynoldsUS when he claimed his first of the match.

UncleSpun became the first harvest king, WAR-HAWK1973 relieved him of the crown, then goddessbunny42 made her sole successful play of the contest. ReccaWolf grabbed it then lost to sam_reynoldsUS who went on to drop it as the next storm rolled in, leaving ReccaWolf to reclaim it. From the beginning of the next harvest to the end of the cycle's storm ReccaWolf impressively managed to stay in control.

The final harvest began with UncleSpun once more, boofi13 took the crown next with ReccaWolf shortly after, looking for all as though he would win until from out of nowhere (or perhaps that should read Underspun) abhraham_us seized the crown to win with 73,407 Spun points - one of the highest recorded scores ever!

The 51st Kings of Spun...

In the time know as 'The Great Denial' there was much confusion. No one knows what scribe took on the grave responsibility of recording the Spunland Coronations during this period, so none can vouch for their veracity. In the 'Annals of Spun', the 51st Coronation is recorded thus:

The dark omen of the spurned Crown hung over Spunland EU; the contest did begin as the harvest blossomed but none took up the crown until it passed, whence monkeyshadow took it and held it firm until the Spun Storm did wither it away to nothing.

Re7e_SqUaLo became the first Harvest King, losing out to monkeyshadow who would have seemed the strongest contender to many, but then sam_reynolds01 decided it was time to warm his ghostly head and did so until he felt the first drops of the Spun Rain when he dropped it, as is his habit. There are those who say that the Spun Crown belongs to Sam, others just borrow it as he sees fit. solidus299 spotted his opportunity and so ended the second cycle in control.

DUB took up the challenge following the second harvest, but soon lost out to NK-NIKKLAS, then solidus299 stepped in again. Rising-Death-85- then entered the contest, proving a tenacious contender; sam_reynolds01 may have taken his crown back, and although monkeyshadow took advantage of Sam's storm drop, it was Rising-Death-85- who ended the cycle and indeed begun its succesor, indeed only he and sam_reynolds01 managed to lay claim during the fourth cycle.

And so it seemed as though Rising-Death-85- would be crowned 51st EU King of Spun, having taken the crown as soon as it spawned for the fourth time he held it until 2 minutes to the coronation moment when Imhokh did suddenly appear and claimed the crown and thus the title for his own with 14,506 Spun Points.

The dark omen of the spurned crown, having no release in the EU carried over to NA. What is there to say of this most unspun historic episode? The coronation started as did its EU sibling during a Spun Harvest, XxDeathFallsxX and goddessbunny42 both looked like serious contenders to the title, when some 20 minutes in a freezing wind rushed through spunland, as though a hole had been torn between here and the Unspun Crash Void. All were petrified, even the Spun Trees became statues and were stilled in their infinite dance.

But the Spunlings were not to be stopped so easily. Some minutes later all gathered again in Spunland, and the 51st Coronation began for the second time... WWEKILLER1989 stood statue like with the Crown as though still afflicted by the void when UncleSpun took the crown and held it for one whole cycle.

goddessbunny42 took the lead following the second harvest, dxkills16 temporarily ended her regal ambition before lilmonstersmiler snatched the crown away only for goddessbunny42 to take it back and end the cycle victorious.

The final harvest began with lilmonstersmiler as Harvest King, but dxkills16 seized it from her, and it would seem that this were done mostly for fun than ambition as she let out a great scream when she accidentally won, and was crowned 51st NA Majesty of Spun on 18,135 Spun Points...

The 52nd Coronation was set for Tuesday the 21st of October (EU: 9pm BST, NA: 4pm PDT/ 6pm CDT/ 7pm EDT), who knew what would befall the land of Spun on that day?

The One and Only 50th King of Spun!

Pinned to the door of Spunland Mansions a ragged piece of parchment flutters feverishly in the wind, it's crumpled surface covered in spidery hand written text:

The 50th Coronation took place in the period later referred to as 'The Great Denial'. Many expected that a grim pall would suffocate the regal contest, but were proved wrong as events unfolded... Spunland EU was thriving with serious contenders, for it was well known that on this day the Orange Spun Crown would finally make its debut.

axkoula13 was the first to claim the crown, and save for one other brief shot was soon out of the match. sam_reynolds01 wasted no time in announcing his intentions, taking the crown from axkoula13 then dropping it as the Spun Storm seethed to see archking take it and end the first cycle in possession. Quick off the mark, archking became the first harvest king of the longest spun cycle of the contest. There were almost too many exchanges for any to note all of the names which went rushing by. pfasther1, madmunkid, JohnPlayer67, elruso12 and APPIE1615 all struggled with sam_reynolds01, who once more executed a storm drop to see archking seize the moment again.

The second harvest should have told all but the dullest of observers how this day would end; archking executed a Harvest King claim to soon lose the crown to sam_reynolds01, even at this point none could best sam's spun score but westyboy1999 seized the opportunity of sam's storm drop to end the third cycle victorious, and as archking often has, went on to claim the Harvest King position on the passing of the storm. madmunkid ended westyboy1999's ambition and in turn was ejected from the contest by JohnPlayer67. Imhokh, majesty of old reminded all of his form by taking the prize from JohnPlayer67, but then surely none were surprised when sam_reynolds01 effortlessly claimed the crown once more and evincing his storm aversion dropped it for archking to have one final turn.

peerhoofd was last Harvest King of the contest, then sam_reynolds01 made his final claim - none could stop his rush to victory, and so it was that he was crowned the 50th EU King of Spun with 56,408 Spun Points.

Many former Kings arrived in Spunland NA to test their mettle and claim the Orange Spun Crown as their own. WVSTEALTH was the first to try, but was easily best by UncleSpun himself before he was trounced by XxDeathFallsxX in giant football form. bestscreenname claimed next, but WVSTEALTH having revived his score won the first cycle.

The first Spun Harvest saw XxDeathFallsxX take back the crown, then past majesties Akina8373 and dxkills16 joined the fray, although XxDeathFallsxX put up a stern fight and WVSTEALTH staked his claim too, it was Akina8373 who brought the first full cycle to a close, and went on to start the third. Then sam_reynoldsUS stepped in. Somehow UncleSpun claimed next, was it from a storm drop or did he really have a greater score than the EU King? Few knew and less most likely cared as lilmonstersmiler swiftly put paid to UncleSpun's misconstrued regal ambition. Akina8373 and XxDeathFallsxX fought out the remainder of the cycle, with Akina8373 winning out.

lilmonstersmiler claimed the crown following the third harvest until Animestar5 intervened. Akina8373, dxkills16 and WVSTEALTH tussled their way through the remainder of the cycle, with XxDeathFallsxX beating them all to end in regal command.

Newcomer Aisha_Dangereuse swept up the freshly spawned crown as the final harvest began. Akina8373 easily snatched it away and then sam_reynoldsUS with the an unbeatable confidence and 55,059 Spun Points took what was clearly his, and was crowned 50th NA King of Spun. For the second time in the history of Spunland one King reigned in both territories, for the second time that King was Sam Reynolds, and for the second time ever the Orange Spun Crown was won!

Perhaps it was the momentous occasion which resulted in all 5 crowns being present; Spuno'ween, 4th of July, White, Purple and Orange were seen upon the heads of the erstwhile Spun Majesties as they celebrated Sam's historic win (dxkills16, smokingpistol, lilmonstersmiler, sam_reynoldsUS, abhraham_us and Ren_Echo). And so ended the Coronation of the 50th King of Spun!

The 51st Coronation contest would come to pass just one week later, on the 14th of October (4 - 4.30pm PDT/ 7- 7.30pm EDT in North America and 9 - 9.30pm BST in the EU), when the Orange Crown we see it's second coronation...

Endings, Beginnings and the 49th Kings of Spun...

On that day Uncle Spun was rudely awoken by the bell. It had been such a long time since he had heard it ring that he had quite forgotten what it sounded like. As it happens it sounds a lot like the siren which heralds the start of a Spunland harvest. Who could possibly be at the door? Indeed so perturbed by this he was he did not realise that for the first time in a month he had experienced a dreamless sleep. No cats or boxes or whispers of the queen, just sound, peaceful sleep.

There was no one at the door, but laying on the Spun Welcome mat was a red envelope. His little Spun heart skipped a beat as he read the terrible title of the letter 'Notice of Eviction'.

Due to the escalating costs of existence and sundry other issues this world will expire 178 days from now. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Yours regretfully, The Management.

Three times his head spun round completely. 'This world will expire 178 days from now'. By our Gracious Majesty, what could this mean? Like a wind-up toy Uncle Spun traversed the Mansion colliding from one wall to the other until he found himself in the basement where toiled the Sceptical Duke of Spun.

'What ails you Spun?'

A single orange tear rolled down his rounded face as he passed the awful message to the Duke.

'Hmm. You knew this moment would come. We all did, If not today, maybe tomorrow or the day beyond.'

Uncle Spun could not respond. He knew it to be true, the dreams, the graffiti, the yearning for a time machine and all of the other smaller ominous omens. The end was nigh.
'Wait here'. The Duke began to rummage among his great machines and soon returned with a bruised and soiled envelope. This is for you.

With a trepidation approaching terror Uncle Spun opened the greasy envelope and for the second time that day his heart skipped a beat.

My Dearest Uncle Spun,

I know the day you read this will seem the saddest you have known, but remember that every ending is but the prelude to a beginning, just as the Spunflowers must die that another harvest may follow, so it is with all things.

I know you will have fulfilled your duties with diligence and decorum, and my only regret is that I never made it back to see our spunderful world and all it's beautiful Spunlings. Enlist all those you can to build a brave and better future, and perhaps one day we may dance again under Spun skies. Until then, may the Spun be always with you...

Your ever admiring Queen of Spun x

The little robo quivered, sobbed and shook, for ultimately that is all he really was - a little white robo with a great purple top hat and a spunificent moustache. And it is well that he was, for once those tears were dry it would be back to his duties. There were 178 days left and not a one of them should be wasted.

When the 49th Coronation rolled around Spunland EU was as busy as ever. MiiSs-Brunette claimed the crown as a Spun Storm raged, then perhaps as a sign of the changing times madmunkid swept in to become the first Harvest King, but not for long; poetic justice electrified the air as Spunling smartly snatched it. sun-black1234, sam_reynolds01 and archking all managed claims before MisSs-Brunette ended the first spun cycle in possession once more.

The same spuntastic cast  played out the second cycle with archking beginning and sun-black1234 ending. In the third we had many newcomers, GAMEZXSTE was our third harvest king, then RAZAN1105 made his debut before madmunkid struck again only to be beat once more by Spunling. sam_reynolds01 reminded all of his powers before discarding the crown as the next storm began, hotbunny4life saw her chance but soon lost out to the spuntastically named neotopian who in turn yielded to archking.

The final cycle was dominated by Spunling, with sam_reynolds01 being the only other contender and so Spunling was crowned 49th EU Spun Majesty on 43,245  Spun points. All Hail!

Across the Great Atlantic in Spunland NA all things spun were even busier. So many were the names and swift the swapping of the crown that it was almost impossible to take it all down, for this apologies. Gamechamp3x got us started, followed by snakewalker then goddessbunny42 - who from where one observed seemed to have the Spun Crown in the sky!

quansalters was the first Harvest King, then destroyuall1418 made their first play before goddessbunny42 snatched the crown back only to lose it swiftly after to the Ren_Echo - the mightiest Spunsmith of them all! The second cycle brought Tevin-The-Gamer to the claiming and dxkills16 but once again Ren_Echo ended the cycle victorious. The third saw more exchanges of the crown than previously ever seen, at least 12 times it changed heads REBEL-RU2 took the harvest title, then the throng was joined by many others among them sam_reynoldsUS, Orbizart, fireball, isaacalvarez and XxDeathFallsxX. XxDeathFallsxX claimed Harvest King of the fourth, then Orbizart fought a valiantly with goddessbunny42 and sam_reynoldsUS, but ultimately lost out to dxkills16.

The fifth harvest, a thing so rarely seen was owned by dxkills16, who triumphed most convincingly on a spuntastic 36,960 Spun Points, becoming the 49th NA Majesty of Spun! All Hail!

Next week will be the 50th Coronation, and marking this momentous occasion will be the advent of the Orange Spun Crown! Tuesday, 7th October, Spunland EU 9 - 9.30pm BST and Spunland NA 4-4.30pm PDT/ 7-7.30pm EDT. Until then, Stay Spun!

Kings of Spun the 48th

Oh Spun Salutations Dear Reader, an incredibly harassed and frantic Uncle Spun here to update the Regal Annals of Spun. This week, unlike the previous two we have old favourites reclaim their titles; the ever silent JohnPlayer67, 48th EU King of Spun, and the pleasingly loquacious StealingHearts, 48th NA Spun Majesty!

As intimated Uncle Spun is more than a little busy today, indeed he may have to make another post in the next few days to update you on his forsaken tales of visions and dreams. Spunland Mansions spins with so much fevered activity that he fears it may take off and drop him Dorothy-like in some other unspun land. The choice of boxes flashes before his one good eye with such rapidity that his head becomes like Saturn, it seems the shape of things to come will be determined by gravity rather than the weighing of choice and consequence. So spins the Spun.

Spunland EU was busier than of late. archking started the contest but quickly lost the crown to JohnPlayer67, an opening which set the pattern for the competition as these two continued to claim and counter claim, indeed for the final two Spun Cycles none but they had a touch of the Crown. Agus_GamerCH, hamzadj, Gandjay_35 and mattia-the-boss all featured in the contest but none could stop JohnPlayer67 claiming the title with 34,961 Spun Points!

Spunland NA brought us another fiercely fought contest. storm4551 had the briefest of starts before StealingHearts taking the crown announced her determined regal ambition. Following the first Spun Harvest StealingHearts did keep possession for the first entire Spun Cycle. The second and third cycles started and ended with StealingHearts again, although quickpick7050, Sciotoan68 and Dementia-Fester all managed to wrest control away at times. The final harvest saw StealingHearts take the crown and claim her Spuno'ween Prize on a spuntastic 41,535 Spun Points! All Hail!

Next week, same day, time and place (although we will try to organize the Dukes a little better); Tuesday 30th September, Spunland EU: 9 -9.30pm BST, Spunland NA: 4-4.30pm PDT, 7-7.30pm EDT. Until then, stay Spun!

The 47th Kings of Spun, many thanks and other news

Spun Salutations Dear Reader! Today we find ourselves announcing the 47th Kings Of Spun! All Hail Jan-Mar2 our 47th EU Majesty and Sciotoan68, 47th NA King of Spun!

Uncle Spun really did intend to reveal more of the strange affairs behind his recently adorned eye patch, but finds that he has so many other messages to pass on that there is not time! Last week we asked if any would act as our tour guides to PlayStation Home; to show us things we had not seen and generally help with the creation of various videos. Several spunderful evenings ensued, making the madmunkis wish that they had asked for your expert help long ago! Spuntabulously big Spun thanks to StealingHearts, phatso64, Ren_Echo and kwoman32, not just for your enlightening endeavors but also for the pleasure of your company, it was a real Spun honor to get to converse with you all at length! Should anyone else care to further educate the madmunkis at some point then please consider this an open invitation to get in touch (UncleSpun & Spun deDuke in NA, madmunkid & i-munki in the EU).

At Spunland Mansions we are always thrilled to receive Art & Observations inspired by all things Spun, indeed one of the first pieces to have our spun heads spinning in excitement was the Spun Nail Art of Amanda Matthews. Miss Mathews is taking part in the 24 hour Extra Life gaming challenge to raise money for charity, spuntastically enough she is planning to spend all 24 hours of the challenge in Spunland on the 25th of October, when as chance would have it will be Spunoween! You can reward her worthy endeavors with sponsorship (as we shall very shortly) and check out all of the details right here. This week we received two spunderful new pieces of Spunland Art; this delectable spun confectionery from InSight_2k and this Spuntastic 'Alice In Spunderland' drawing by the talented StealingHearts - big Spun thanks to you all!

And so to the 47th Coronations... Uncle Spun is pleased to report that Spunland EU was busier last night than it has been of late. The contest began toward the end of a Spun Storm with InSight_2k in possession. Violika running about in her VR goggles became the first Harvest King before  Beyondtwosouls91 had their sole shot of the contest, to lose out to InSight_2k. As soon as InSight_2k dropped the crown xX_Rodri-go_Xx swept it up, then Jan-Mar2 came galloping in on his great steed taking us to the end of the first Spun Cycle. Jan-Mar2 became our second Harvest King, InSight_2k briefly thwarted his regal ambition, then the ever dependable sam_reynolds01 made his first claim. Jan-Mar2 proved a persistent contestant, his only competition in the third Spun Cycle being sam_reynolds01. The final harvest started with the debut of archking, but they proved no match for Jan-Mar2, even InSight_2k could not prevent Jan-Mar2 being crowned 47th EU King of Spun with a spuntastic 25,346 Spun Points! All Hail!

Spunland NA was as busy as ever and the contest was frantic. Uncle Spun managed to video the entire event, so much easier it would be to point you to that than tell the tale but alas there has not yet been the time to upload the weighty file so words will have to do for now. cincraq began the competition but dropped the crown and SuperMacho69 seized it, Zmanx316 then had the briefest of runs before RacerXJuggalo in the form of a great spectral wolf staked his claim and ended the first cycle in posession. SuperRising had the honour of becoming a brief harvest King then Real_Gamer140 intervened. RacerXJuggalo snatched the crown then sam_reynoldsUS made his first appearance before dropping the Crown for RacerXJuggalo to claim it back.

Other than another appearance from sam_reynoldsUS the second Spun Cycle brought us a whole new set of contenders; Dylan, EJP_5, dxkills16, SilkenHair, the spunderfully named URGENT-MATTER, jrj1954, magicmix13 and RoRoLs93. Pheeeew. The third Harvest saw jrj1954 become harvest King and added Ren_Echo and lilmonstersmiler to the spuntastic mix of contestants with dxkills16 dominating. The final harvest started the same as its predecessor, with jrj1954 losing his Harvest Crown to dxkills16, Ren_Echo made a final play then, from out of nowhere Sciotoan68 played his well timed gambit to win the contest on 31,240 Spun Points! Uncle Spun would like to add that it was a pleasure to finally meet Sciotoan68 in person  as the 47th NA King of Spun, having had cause to appreciate our latest Majesty's astute observations and wisdom on the forums many times before! All Hail!

Next week, the 48th Coronation Contest will take place on the Tuesday the 23rd of September, Spunland EU: 9 - 9.30pm BST, Spunland NA: 4-4.30pm PDT / 7 - 7.30pm EDT. Until then Stay Spun!

The 46th Kings of Spun & Video Request...

Spun Salutations Dear Reader, Uncle Spun is pleased to announce that we have another two brand new Kings of Spun this week, all hail Motoricobu 46th EU King of Spun and boofi13 46th Spun Majesty of NA!

Uncle Spun's eye problems continue unabated, and although he is eager to regale you with further tales of his spun dreams and the ambiguous wonders he sees from his troublesome left orb there is not the time for the stack of his duties rises higher than those boxes in the aforementioned warehouse. Besides, he also has a message to pass on; the madmunkis are engaged in making a 'video' of Home and could use some help to do so, they want to visit your favourite places and see your favourite things in the wide and spunderful world that is PlayStation Home. Their first foray into this endeavour will be this evening (wednesday 10th September) starting out in Spunland NA at 4pm PDT/7pm EDT - if you would like to help please show up and guide them where you may! Or send us a friend request  and message (UncleSpun or Spun DeDuke for NA or madmunkid or i-munki for EU) if you would like to do this but at some other time.

Despite being quiet once more the crown of Spunland EU was still sought with some serious competition. jansolo followed by Mz_Manzana began the contest, though quickly dropped from proceedings as Motoricobu then Wadzonator_666 weighed in to begin their domination of the event. Masonbol2014 became our first Harvest King before also beating a hasty retreat. Over the following three Spun Cycles Motoricubu and Wadzonator_666 took the crown from one another, with only the indomitable sam_reynolds01 interrupting their their regal duel. Motoricobu finally won the day in the midst of a White Spun Storm with a spuntastic 27,276 Spun Points! All Hail!

Things were quite different on the other side of the Great Atlantic as Spunland NA teemed with contestants, indeed so many that it took an age for all the avatars to appear and the network lag rolled in and out like an angry tide. maddogcrusher in his great black wings took the first claim of the Spun Crown before old favourites ReccaWolf and StealingHearts interjected. Maxx_Mega reigning Harvest King took on the title which lately seems his alone with the advent of the first harvest although ReccaWolf beat him to it on each succeeding cycle. The plethora of names to seize the crown was all but too long to list, some had the regal prize for such a short breath that Uncle Spun was hard pressed to note them.  jettas4me, AK1981 and DavidG2674 all had a touch at points, X13LONDIEX and sam_reynoldsUS managed a few whilst spunlandfan2014 in her Uncle Spun head atop a flying 4 leaf clover made a consistent meal of the Spun Hopper. boofi13 played a masterful gambit by holding off till the final full cycle to join, but the match was best expressed by the final spawning of the Spun Crown as all gathered by the pipe and a flurry of names flashed above it one after the other (spunlandfan2014, Maxx_Mega and StealingHearts) until it finally settled on our new Majesty boofi13 who won with by hairs breadth on 39,037 Spun Points! All Hail!

Next week the 47th Kings of Spun will be decided on Tuesday the 16th of September, Spunland EU: 9 -9.30pm BST, Spunland NA: 4-4.30pm PDT/ 7 -7.30pm EDT. Until then, stay Spun!

The 45th Kings of Spun

Spun Salutations Dear Reader! Today we herald the inauguration of two brand new Kings of Spun! All hail InSight_2k, 45th EU Spun Majesty and q7u7tool, 45th NA King of Spun!

Uncle Spun must apologize for the brevity of this missive (especially to our new Kings), although he suspects that this will actually come as a relief to many; the fact is that the ocular issues which began to plague him last week have continued unabated. One has avoided sleep as far as possible in order to escape the increasingly spun dreams dominated as they are by boxes, cats and all manner of odd constructions. Which box to chose is the constant refrain ringing around his weary head. The eyepatch seems to be holding for now, but it feels as though it is just a matter of time before the dreams take physical form and push the patch away from within, to force his gaze upon this swirling maelstrom of possibilities. Or he may wake up tomorrow with all things tickety-boo once more. Who knows.

Spunland EU was fairly quiet, but as always the contest was fiercely fought. DRW300 got us off to a brisk start before dropping from the contest not long after Motoricobu seized the Crown (Uncle Spun finally had time to record your name correctly - apologies for last week's tardiness in this regard!). sam_reynolds01 snatched the crown then dropped it as he usually does as the first Spun Storm swept in. Motoricobu saw his opportunity and took it once more, indeed he made the most claims of the contest, Mo-1995 had a brief turn and boogschutter20 a long run, but InSight_2k after staking his regal claim during the third Spun Cycle went on to win in the fourth with a Spuntastic 23,064 Spun Points! All Hail!

Many were the names, both new and old to grace our North American contest. RacerXJuggalo was the first to take the crown as the competition began during a Spun Storm. For the third week in a row Maxx_Mega was consistently the Harvest King, taking the crown as it respawned everytime, indeed if he keeps this up a special title may have to be coined for this achievement! q7u7tool, sam_reynoldsUS and lilmonstersmiler all confidently entered the fray in the first complete Spun Cycle, to be joined in the next with msavie and Ren_Echo. It was the third full cycle that witnessed the fiercest fight, and with eightinch staking his first claim brought the number of Homeling contestants to three. NCHOTROD1 made his début following the final harvest, but failed to stop the mighty q7u7tool stomping to victory in his huge robo suit on a spuntastic 30,582 Spun Points! - All Hail!

And so, next week the 46th Kings of Spun will be decided on Tuesday the 9th of September (oh how close the 50th Coronation draws near!), Spunland EU: 9 -9.30pm BST, Spunland NA: 4-4.30pm PDT and 7 - 7.30pm EDT. One final note before signing off; this new month of September will bring Spuno'ween every Wednesday. Till next week, stay Spun!
